BREAKING NEWS! This business of the Jam Session - Winter 2009-2010

Hello friends, brothers, sisters, fellow musicians and music lovers,

I am deeply grateful to all the people who came to The Jam Session this spring, summer and fall. Part of our philosophy is to make progressive, quality, live music available and free to the public, regardless of age and demographics.
You all could have very easily not shown up or turned around and left immediately! You didn't! As a matter of a fact, you all stayed for a while, made the musicians play better and helped create an amazing sense of community!
Thank you on behalf of all of the musicians who have come through since April 9th, 2009!

I consider The Jam Session a phenomenon that wont go away since it fills a void in our community. It's alive and will continue to evolve in the coming years. We'll continue to invite musicians with different philosophies to sit in as well as broaden our listener base. I'll try my best not to let The Jam Session series go stale or get too boring - that's a promise!

November 19th, 2009 is our last date at the Bay Burger this year. It's time for the restaurant to hibernate until we start up again in April...but until then we have

BREAKING NEWS:

The Jam Session will move down to Bay Street Theater!!! Opening night is January 7th, 2010

To kick this new venue off to a good start we'll host a concert to benefit Bay Street Theater on December 3rd, 2009. 7PM -9PM.
"Jammin for Bay Street Theater"

Hello friends, brothers, sisters, fellow musicians -

Claes here coming to you all on February 11, 2009.

The time has finally come! The concept is no different than a year ago but now we have found a place to host our weekly JAM SESSION. The venue is the amazing Bay Burger Restaurant in Sag Harbor, New York. We will begin sometime in early April on either a Wed, Thur or Fri between 7PM -9PM (or later) There will be theme-nights such as: Jazz n' Hip Hop Night, RnB Night, Cubop Night, Straight Ahead Night, etc. There will be a house band consisting of drums, bass, and a cord instrument (keyboard, guitar) + special guests + whoever want to sit in ad lib.

At this point in time I need your input in terms of... everything! Ideas, commitments to perform, themes, times, promotion, affiliation etc. Please let me know asap.

Also - this is NOT an Open Mic Night. As a matter of a fact, this is the good ol JAM SESSION where musicians can practice their craft, try new compositions, new ideas, free style rap over the Sidewinder beat, take a leap of faith, solo over odd chord changes and signatures. Some of these things will be announced ahead of time others will be impromptu.

Please visit Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam_session

Hopefully this will take on a life on its own and be a breeding ground for new artists, ideas, bands and friendships. This JAM SESSION will ideally fill a gigantic void in our community - live improvisational music!

Let me know your level of interest and anything else on your mind.

Spread the word - forward this email to anyone interested in performing as well as attending.

Thanks.

Claes
